Conducted by the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka
facilitated by
Enviforecasting
Objective
The SWMM training program focuses on educating postgraduate students in urban water management and water quality modeling. It covers conceptual understanding, practical application, and analysis of real-world case studies using SWMM.
The objectives of the program include:
- Introducing the concepts of modeling urban stormwater drainage and water quality.
- Assessing the impacts of nature-based solutions on stormwater quantity and quality.
- Evaluating stormwater management project proposals using SWMM.
The program emphasizes hands-on training, allowing participants to gain practical experience with the SWMM software. Real-world case studies and data are utilized to enhance the learning process.
Component Description
This SWMM training program is structured into three components, each serving a specific purpose. The first two components focus on teaching and learning, while the third component is dedicated to review and discussion. Here's a breakdown of each component:
- Hydrodynamic Modeling (3 classes): This component consists of three classes that delve into hydrodynamic modeling using SWMM.
- Water Quality Modeling and Measures for Water Quality Improvements (4 classes): The second component spans four classes and focuses on water quality modeling and measures to enhance water quality using SWMM.
- Review and Discussion (2 classes): The third component is designed for review, feedback, and discussion. It provides an opportunity for participants to clarify doubts, discuss challenges, and share their experiences with the SWMM software and its applications. This interactive component allows for a deeper understanding of the concepts covered in the previous two components.
