This interactive dashboard provides an easy-to-use tool to help stakeholders understand rainfall data and form strategies to reduce loss and damage from extreme weather events. Data can be analyzed at different intensities so that stakeholders can become familiar with how to respond to potential flooding events.
A review of rainfall runoff processes in Colombo and Kelani basin shows that real time observations may provide a sufficient lead time to prevent flooding in the city from Riparian floods from Kelani River. Weather and rainfall forecast accuracy need to be improved to address city flood disaster reduction.
